Advanced Ribbon Technologies
Measured Performance
Measurements of the Advanced Ribbon Technologies' Metro Ribbon Hybrid loudspeaker system were taken in our listening lab at 2 meters through our calibrated microphone. The measurements are made in real world conditions, not anechoic, to properly document the dipole radiation pattern of the Metro. The splice to the close mice of the woofer and port response is made below 200Hz.
Advanced Ribbon Technologies' Metro Frequency Response Spread
Above is the Metro's Frequency Response Spread. The blue curve is an isolation of the R.7's frequency response, which measures 400Hz to beyond 20kHz, ±2dB. The -6dB point is about 350 Hz. This bandwidth is wider than the entire female vocal range. The SEAS EXCEL woofer operates from about 45Hz to the crossover point at 350Hz. The summed response is ±2dB from 140Hz on up, and exhibits good bass extension.
Advanced Ribbon Technologies' Metro Impedance Spread
Above is the Metro's input impedance, the upper curve is with the ribbon in "low" position, which is as it would be at altitude. The lower curve is with the ribbon in "high" position, as it would be at sea level. Port tuning is 45 Hz, and above 100Hz the impedance is nearly flat up to about 5kHz, a window of over five octaves.
The unique combination of a single driver performing over six octaves and a smooth impedance curve allows the amplifier to be stable even at very high volume levels. The sound quality does not change character through bandwidth or dynamics. A minimum amplifier power of 100 Watts into 8 Ohms and 200 Watts into 4 Ohms is suggested.
